Privacy Policy

🔒 Your privacy matters. Bargenza is committed to protecting your personal information and being transparent about how we use it.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, such as when you create an account, manage shopping lists, clip coupons, or upload receipts. This includes: • Name and email address (via authentication) • Phone number (only when you voluntarily provide it; never required) • Location data (only when you explicitly share it for nearby store features) • Shopping preferences and dietary restrictions • Coupon usage and savings history • Receipt images when you upload them to find matching offers • Merchant reviews and ratings you choose to submit (publicly visible on the merchant's page) • Merchant business information (store name, contact details, business address, category, and subscription/billing details) when you register as a merchant or manage a store • Documents you upload (receipts, warranties, invoices, business licenses, etc.) • Barcode data captured via your device camera (only when you actively use the in-app barcode scanner) • Ad interaction data (impressions and clicks on sponsored merchant content, used for billing) • IP address and device/browser information (collected automatically when you use the app) • Session identifiers and tracking parameters (for analytics and affiliate attribution)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to: • Personalize coupon recommendations based on your preferences • Calculate and display your savings analytics • Match coupons to your shopping list items • Show nearby stores based on your location • Send notifications about expiring coupons and deals (only if enabled) • Process receipt uploads and match them to available offers • Track affiliate clicks and conversions for commission attribution • Process payouts to your wallet (cashback rewards, when available, are described in our Cashback Disclaimer) • Prevent fraud and abuse • Display sponsored content from merchants and track ad impressions and clicks for merchant billing • Comply with legal and tax obligations

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. However, we may share data in the following circumstances: • Affiliate Networks: When you click an affiliate link, we redirect you to the merchant's website with a tracking identifier. If that merchant participates in an affiliate network (which may include networks such as Commission Junction (CJ), Impact Radius, or Rakuten Advertising), the network may set tracking cookies or pixels on your device to attribute your purchase to Bargenza. We do not send your email directly to affiliate networks. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details. • Merchants: When you place a pickup or delivery order, the fulfilling merchant receives your order details, including your name, email, phone number (if provided), and order contents. This is necessary for order fulfillment. • Service Providers: We use third-party service providers to operate the platform, including Stripe (payment processing), MapTiler (map rendering), AI language models (flyer extraction), and email delivery services. These providers process data on our behalf under service agreements and do not use it for their own purposes. • Aggregated Data: We may share aggregated, anonymized data for analytics purposes that cannot identify you personally. • Legal Compliance: We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or government regulation.

4. Phone Numbers

Providing a phone number is completely optional and never required to create an account. When you choose to add one, it is stored in E.164 international format and transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections. We use your phone number only for: order and delivery notifications, merchant communications, security alerts, and customer support. We do not send marketing SMS messages unless you explicitly opt in. Your phone number is never displayed publicly. You can edit or remove it at any time from your profile settings. When you delete your account, your stored phone number is permanently removed, except where retention is legally required. When you place an order, your phone number may be included in the order notification email sent to the fulfilling merchant so they can contact you about your order. Merchants may add a separate business contact phone number and choose whether to display it on their public store page.

5. Documents You Upload

You may upload documents such as purchase receipts, warranties, invoices, return documentation, and support attachments. Merchants may upload business licenses, tax documents, store policies, product manuals, catalogs, and compliance certificates. Supported file types are limited to PDF, DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, CSV, TXT, ODT, and ZIP, with a maximum size of 25 MB. Executable files are blocked. Files are validated by extension and MIME type before storage, encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS), and stored in private storage accessible only via time-limited signed download URLs. Every upload, download, replacement, deletion, and admin review action is recorded in an audit log. Administrators can review, approve, flag, or remove documents. You can delete any document you uploaded at any time. When you delete your account, your uploaded documents are permanently removed, except where legal retention is required.

6. Location Data

Location access is entirely optional and only used to show nearby stores. We do not store precise location history. Your preferred location is stored only if you explicitly save it in settings. When you search for a city or ZIP code, or use your current GPS position to set a preferred location, your search query or coordinates are sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim, a free geocoding service, to convert between addresses and coordinates. Location coordinates may also be sent to MapTiler, our map rendering service provider, to display store locations on the map.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information. All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Sensitive data such as payout method details and tax identification numbers (SSN/EIN) are encrypted using AES-256-GCM encryption. We use secure authentication provided by our platform provider. Access to sensitive data is restricted via row-level security policies.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to: • Access your personal data at any time through your profile settings • Request deletion of your account and personal data (see our Account Deletion & Data Retention section for what is deleted, what is retained, and current limitations) • Opt out of notifications at any time • Request a copy of your personal data by contacting support • Request correction of inaccurate personal information • Delete specific data items — such as individual receipts, uploaded documents, your phone number, shopping lists, or saved coupons — without deleting your entire account, directly from the relevant screens in the app To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@bargenza.shop or through the app's support section.

9. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies for authentication and core app functionality. Additionally, when you click an affiliate link from within Bargenza, affiliate networks (such as CJ, Impact, or Rakuten) may set tracking cookies or pixels on your device to attribute your purchase to Bargenza for commission tracking purposes. These third-party cookies are governed by the respective affiliate network's privacy policy. We use a first-party cookie consent banner to obtain your consent for non-essential cookies. You can manage your cookie preferences at any time. We do not use third-party advertising cookies beyond those set by affiliate networks for commission attribution.

10. IP Address, Device, and Session Data

When you use Bargenza, we automatically collect certain technical information: • IP address (used for security, fraud prevention, and rate limiting) • Browser type and device information (user-agent string) • Session identifiers (for authentication and analytics) • Affiliate tracking parameters (sub_id, click attribution tokens) This information is stored in our event logs and affiliate click records. IP addresses and user-agents are retained for fraud prevention and security analysis. Session identifiers are used to maintain your authenticated session and for analytics.

11. Affiliate Tracking

Bargenza participates in affiliate marketing programs. When you click an affiliate link within the app, we: • Generate a unique tracking identifier (sub_id) for your click • Record your email (if logged in), IP address, and user-agent in our affiliate click log • Redirect you to the merchant's website with this tracking identifier • May earn a commission if you make a qualifying purchase Affiliate networks may set tracking cookies or pixels on your device. See our Affiliate Disclosure for full details. You can avoid affiliate tracking by not clicking affiliate links.

12. Payout Method and Tax Information

The following describes how payout and tax information is handled when cashback payouts are available. Cashback is currently a conditional feature; see our Cashback Disclaimer for its status. To receive cashback payouts, you may provide payout method details (PayPal email or bank account information). Payout method details are encrypted using AES-256-GCM encryption and stored securely. Only masked display labels (e.g., "PayPal: j***@gmail.com") are visible in the app. If you earn $600 or more in cashback within a calendar year, we are required by IRS regulations to collect a W-9 tax form and file a 1099-NEC form. Your Social Security Number (SSN) or Employer Identification Number (EIN) is encrypted using AES-256-GCM encryption. Only the last 4 digits of your SSN are visible in the app; the full encrypted value is never returned to the app and is accessed only server-side where required for filing. Tax records are retained for the period required by IRS recordkeeping rules.

13. Third-Party Service Providers

We use the following third-party service providers to operate Bargenza: • Stripe: Payment processing for merchant subscriptions and ad balance top-ups. Stripe receives your payment information but does not share it with Bargenza. • MapTiler: Map rendering for the store locator. Receives map tile coordinates. • OpenStreetMap Nominatim: Free geocoding service used to convert city/ZIP searches and GPS coordinates into map locations. Receives your location search query or coordinates only when you actively use the location feature. • AI Language Models: Used for flyer extraction (processing merchant-uploaded flyer images) and potentially for receipt OCR in the future. • Email Delivery: Used to send transactional emails (order confirmations, payout notifications, etc.). • Affiliate Networks (which may include CJ, Impact, or Rakuten): May receive tracking data via the merchant's website redirect and may set tracking cookies where a merchant participates in that network. These service providers process data on our behalf under appropriate data processing agreements. They do not use your data for their own purposes.

14. Receipt Processing and Storage

When you upload a receipt image to find matching offers, the image is stored in private, authenticated storage. Only you (the receipt owner) and authorized administrators can access receipt images. Access requires time-limited signed download URLs. Receipt images may contain purchase history, store information, timestamps, transaction details, and partial payment information. This data is used to match your receipt against available offers and identify matching deals (cashback rewards, when available, are described in our Cashback Disclaimer). Receipt metadata (store name, purchase date, total amount, parsed items) is stored in our database and is visible to you and authorized administrators. Raw receipt images are not shared with merchants unless explicitly required for a future authorized workflow.

15. Sponsored Content and Advertising

Bargenza displays sponsored content from participating merchants within the app. When you view or interact with a sponsored offer or campaign, we record impression and click events (including a session identifier and, if you are logged in, your email) so that we can bill the merchant for ad delivery. We do not use third-party advertising networks or third-party advertising cookies for this purpose — all sponsored content is served and tracked by Bargenza directly. Merchant advertisers can see aggregated performance metrics for their own campaigns but do not receive your personal data from ad interactions.

16. Camera and Barcode Scanning

The app may request access to your device camera for two purposes: (1) scanning product barcodes to look up product information, and (2) capturing receipt photos to find matching offers. Camera access is requested only when you actively use the barcode scanner or receipt capture feature, and you can decline the permission request. The camera feed is processed locally on your device to detect barcodes; barcode values are sent to our servers only to look up product details. Receipt photos are uploaded and stored as described in the Receipt Processing section above. We do not record or store video or images from the camera beyond the specific photo you capture for a receipt.

17. Account Deletion & Data Retention

You can request deletion of your account and personal data at any time through the Delete Account page or by contacting support. When your request is approved and processed: • Personal data — including your profile, shopping lists, saved coupons, clipped coupons, activated offers, uploaded documents, and phone number — is permanently deleted. • Financial, tax, fraud-prevention, and audit records — including cashback wallet history, receipts, payout methods, payout requests, affiliate conversions, order history, and referral records — are anonymized (your email is replaced with a non-identifying value) and retained where required for tax compliance, financial reconciliation, fraud prevention, and legal obligations. These anonymized records are no longer linked to you and cannot be read by your closed account. • Tax records (W-9 information and 1099 earnings) are retained for the period required by IRS recordkeeping rules. Current limitation: Bargenza relies on a third-party authentication platform to manage login accounts. We permanently delete and anonymize your personal data as described above, but the underlying login account itself may persist in the authentication provider's system after your data is wiped. If you also want the login account itself disabled, contact support and we will assist you. Most deletion requests are completed within 7 business days. Certain conditions — such as a withdrawable cashback balance, an in-flight payout, or an active merchant subscription — must be resolved before final deletion.

18. Children's Privacy

Bargenza is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

19. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.

20. Contact Us

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, please contact us at contact@bargenza.shop or through the app's support section.
